5G in Manufacturing

How 5G is Transforming the Manufacturing Landscape, a 2021 report by NAM’s Manufacturing Institute was conducted by Dr. Shawn DuBravac, President of Avrio Institute. Shawn will discuss this report and implications for the future of manufacturing. 5G means more than increased wireless connectivity speeds for manufacturers. It serves as a catalyst for innovation bringing with it the opportunity for manufacturing companies to do things never done before. A New York Times best selling book author, DuBravac is a national thought leader on the transformation of manufacturing. Through this fireside chat-style conversation, Michele Whelley, CEO for the Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, will explore with Shawn the findings of the Manufacturing Institute’s report and the impact on the future of manufacturing.

3D Scanning & Printing and Digital Twins

The Digital Twin is a set of virtual information constructs that fully describes a potential or actual physical manufactured product from the micro atomic level to the macro geometrical level. At its optimum, any information that could be obtained from inspecting a physical manufactured product can be obtained from its Digital Twin. In manufacturing, the digital twin process is being used, often in conjunction with 3D printing and scanning, to generate data-driven insights into products, operations and human activity to improve both efficiency and effectiveness so as to increase profitability and user quality. In this session, hear from industry leaders on how digital twin-driven solutions are being developed and implemented by manufacturers and their impact on the future of the industry and the workforce.

Using Virtual Reality in Training for Manufacturing

Today’s manufacturers report workforce recruitment, training and retention at the top of their list of challenges. Local, state and national programs exist to assist with these needs, but often, the missing link is experiential learning. Through this session, we’ll introduce you to an innovative technology from a leading national company with a track record of success providing customized virtual reality (VR) training for manufacturing positions. Discover the benefits VR training provides and hear how manufacturers are using this unique technology to train and upskill its own workforce. Bharani Rajakumar, is Co-Founder & CEO of TransfrVR, a national leader in Virtual Reality training. In late 2020, TransferVR raised 12 million series A funding to bring the power of VR training to displaced and incumbent workers, pioneering a new approach to training in partnership with states, major US employers.
